As Executive Associate, Kyra provides direct support to the Executive Director of America Forward by coordinating the AF team and managing systems in their DC office.
Kyra comes to America Forward with a strong passion for social innovation. Her interest in becoming a leader who can create positive social change took root at Claremont McKenna College, where she led a coalition of students to cultivate an ecosystem for social innovation and social entrepreneurship. Kyra supported key stakeholders in the College’s changemaking strategy, which ultimately led to Claremont McKenna’s designation as an Ashoka U Changemaker Campus in October 2014. Kyra was so fascinated by social entrepreneurship that she wrote her senior thesis on “The Future of Social Innovation in the United States.” As she told us, from her study of the field she “became convinced that cross-sector collaboration has the power to achieve innovative solutions that single sectors cannot realize alone.”
Following college, Kyra joined the Ashoka U team as a Community Management intern, supporting logistics for the 2016 Ashoka U Exchange, Ashoka U’s annual convening of leading social innovators in higher education.
In joining America Forward, Kyra is particularly excited to get to know America Forward’s coalition members and support our efforts to unite social entrepreneurs with policy makers to drive a policy agenda that fosters innovation and catalyzes cross-sector partnerships.
