As Manager for New Profit’s Early Learning Fund, Rukmini provides analytic support for critical strategic challenges facing the rapidly scaling organizations within the fund as well as operational and logistical support across multiple fund workstreams.
Rukmini is dedicated to building the capacity and systems necessary to leverage and scale powerful ideas. After immigrating to a small community in Texas from India and witnessing the challenges her family faced, she was driven to seek out a deeper understanding of systemic inequity. This passion led her to engage in volunteer opportunities, internships, and courses to further explore our nation’s most pressing social ills and the ideas and changes that can address them.
Prior to joining New Profit, Rukmini was a Consulting Research Associate at Root Cause, a nonprofit research and strategy consulting firm, where she engaged in research, data analysis, and project management to produce actionable recommendations for clients. She also supported the work of partnership initiatives at Root Cause, including the Campaign for Black Male Achievement and the Youth Violence Prevention Funder Learning Collaborative. Rukmini started her career as a Site Coordinator for LIFT in Chicago, where she managed a community resource center where undergraduate and graduate student volunteers work one-on-one with low-income individuals to find employment, secure housing, access public benefits, and obtain referrals for services like childcare and healthcare.
Rukmini received a B.A. in Philosophy and International Relations at Tufts University. Outside of the office, she enjoys swimming, hiking, and picnicking, and is slowly but surely learning how to cook.
