Acelero Learning

Transforming the early childhood experience

Acelero Learning is a for-profit organization that works to close the achievement gap and build a better future for children, families and communities served by the Head Start program.

The combination of its affiliate network model (now called Shine Assist), and its visionary and impact-driven leader, Aaron Lieberman, together had the potential to disrupt a stagnant $10B Head Start system and set higher performance standards across the field.
- Kim Syman,
Managing Partner, Field Leadership and Early Learning Fund

In the first year of investment, Acelero Learning launches an affiliate model, which is continuing to successfully grow and has become a critical revenue source and avenue for widespread impact.

2012: New Profit commits $1M to advance Acelero Learning's educational programs as part of its developing Early Learning Fund.

Acelero Learning manages a growing network of high-performing Head Start centers and provides technical assistance to other providers. Today, 35,000 children in Head Start are enrolled in Shine Assist programs.

Acelero Learning achieves roughly 2x the gains of the average Head Start center – higher than any other provider in the field.

Acelero Learning is focusing on systemic impact by harnessing technology and developing a proprietary database to help other providers achieve better results.

2014: With support from Deloitte’s Monitor Institute, New Profit helped Acelero Learning develop a five year plan for scaling its impact and funded its on-going evaluation efforts.
