model
Achievement First's network of K-12 public charter schools combines an unwavering focus on student achievement, more time on task, a rigorous curriculum, and the strategic use of data to create environments that prepare students for success.

growth
  • Grew network-wide annual revenue by 61 percent from $17.9 million in FY2006 to $28.7 million in FY2007, and increased annual lives touched by 81 percent from 930 to 1,683 students.
  • Opened four new schools in the 2006-07 school year and laid the groundwork for two new schools to open in fall 2007, bringing the total network size to 12 schools in 2007-08.
  • Launched a set of initiatives to ensure uncompromising achievement as the network grows, focusing on interim student assessment, teacher and principle training, and after-school tutoring.

impact
  • In 2007, Achievement First's New Haven middle schools ranked in the top 10 of all Connecticut schools in middle school performance gains, and academic performance of low-income students, African American students, and Hispanic students.
  • Achievement First partnered with KIPP Schools and other leading charter schools to launch a new teacher certification program, providing an alternative credentialing pathway grounded in best practices from urban schools.
