KIPP schools recruits, trains, and supports outstanding educators to open new, locally-run KIPP schools in high-need communities nationwide. More time in school, a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, and a strong culture of achievement and support enable KIPP students to make significant academic gains and continue to excel in high school and college.
- Increased lives touched (students served across the KIPP network) by 35 percent from 9,000 in FY2006 to 12,180 in FY2007.
- Significantly grew KIPP Foundation resources for the second year in a row, while continuing to achieve efficiencies (expenses down 8 percent from FY2005); created $2.9 million unrestricted reserve fund.
- Made progress in rolling out new regional cluster plan to improve local school support services, increasing the number of KIPP schools in clusters from 24 percent in FY2006 to 53 percent in FY2007.
- The average KIPP student starts in fifth grade at the 32nd percentile in reading and the 40th percentile in math on national norms-referenced tests, and by the end of eighth grade has reached the 60th and 82nd percentiles in reading and match, respectively.
- KIPP students have achieved a college matriculation rate of 82 percent compared to the national average of 25 percent for similar populations.

KIPP is launching a multi-year third-party evaluation effort. KIPP's expansion plan calls for growing its network to 100 schools serving 24,000 students by 2011.
