mission
To fundamentally change the face of leadership in America by preparing high-potential minorities for senior leadership in corporations, nonprofit organizations, and entrepreneurial ventures.

model
Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) accelerates the trajectories of high-potential minorities at critical career transition points: college to early career, early career to MBA, and MBA to senior management. In partnership with top MBA programs and corporations, MLT provides the skills, coaching, personalized career map, and relationships needed to succeed along the fast-track to executive leadership.

growth
  • Grew revenue by 26 percent from $2.7 million in FY2006 to $3.4 million in FY2007; increased the number of annual Career Prep and MBA Prep program graduates (lives touched) by 21 percent from 235 to 284, and also served 210 individuals through early-college programming.
  • Formed 15 new corporate partnerships, including Google, eBay, Nike Deloitte, Accenture, and Disney, bringing MLT's total partnership base to 41 companies.
  • Created a five-year strategic plan with New Profit and Monitor Group to triple in size, launch a program for mid-career professionals, and establish MLT as the premier talent development institute for minorities.

impact
  • Eighty-six percent of MBA Prep fellows who applied to business school in FY2007 now attend top-25 schools, and 95 percent of Career Prep participants secured full-time fast-track positions upon graduation.
  • Today, MLT's 900 alumni are a growing presence in a range of industries, including financial services, consulting, consumer goods, entrepreneurship, and the nonprofit sector. In 2007, MLT increased alumni engagement activities, including recruiting individuals as candidates for a pilot mid-career program to further accelerate their careers.

looking ahead
By 2012, MLT plans to serve more than 1,000 fellows annually and build a community of 4,000 alumni who will represent a new generation of emerging minority leaders.
