To direct the energy and innovation of young people toward ensuring that all community members have access to the
services, opportunities, and attention they need to pursue employment, self-sufficiency, and personal success.
National Student Partnerships (NSP) operates a network of drop-in resource centers, co-located with community organizations and staffed by student volunteers ("advocates") from area colleges and universities. Advocates work with low-income community members, providing intensive on-site and referral services in employment, housing, legal aid, and healthcare.
- Grew annual revenue by six percent from $1.54 million to $1.63 million in FY2007, and increased the number of clients served (lives touched) by eight percent from 5,111 to 5,498.
- Increased the annual number of services rendered to clients by 40 percent from FY2006 to FY2007, representing an average increase from 13 to 16 services per client.
- Strengthened capacity for growth by hiring a COO and national program director, and designing a regional program management structure.
- In FY2007, 532 NSP student advocates delivered nearly 90,000 services to clients and their families, ranging from securing utility assistance and tax credits, to obtaining job interviews. Sixty-eight percent of NSP clients who secured job interviews (432 clients) achieved employment, a rate well above the national average for job placement agencies.
- NSP's annual Leadership Summit brought together more than 250 students, alumni, clients, and community partners for skill-building workshops, best practice sharing, and keynote speakers including General Colin Powell.
