mission
Right To Play's mission is to improve the lives of children in the most disadvantaged areas of the world through sport and play opportunities that promote development, health, and peace. Using the guiding principles of inclusion and sustainability, Right To Play seeks to build the capacity of local individuals and communities to foster the healthy physical, social, and emotional development of children, and build safer and stronger communities.

growth
  • Increased revenues from $1.2 million to $11.8 million (US) between 2001 and 2005.
  • Built 38 programs in 19 countries over the last 5 years and trained more than 6,000 local coaches who provided more than 500,000 children with organized sport and play activities during 2005.

impact
  • Right To Play's programs strive for inclusion of all children regardless of gender, religion, ability, ethnicity, disability, or social background, helping all participants benefit from the inherent values of sport such as teamwork, communication, and fair play, and leading to healthier, educated children and safer, more peaceful communities.
  • Right To Play-led Play Days have mobilized thousands of children around health issues, serving as effective touch points for HIV/AIDS, malaria, and TB prevention and education.

looking ahead
Right To Play's vision is to reach 10 times its current size by 2015, serving 5 million children globally. In 2006, Right To Play will begin operations in Chad and Liberia, as well as the area affected by the 2004 South Asia tsunami. Right To Play also seeks to grow its international policy impact, as it continues to promote the sport for development and peace sector and garner attention from key governments, agencies, and non-governmental organizations around the world.
