As an Associate on the Portfolio Performance & Support team, Deonta assesses the performance of the firm’s growing portfolio of leading innovative social organizations and provides advisory support to New Profit deal partners using internal methodologies and frameworks.
Spurring from a deep interest in the intersection of social psychology and economic behavior, Deonta previously served an as Associate at Social Enterprise @ Goizueta (SE@G), a social enterprise research center at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. During his time at SE@G Deonta managed a microbusiness accelerator program and conducted extensive research on the development of microbusinesses in communities across the American South. Deonta’s research examining the importance of microbusinesses to local communities has been published in the Stanford Social Innovation Review.
Deonta has previously held positions at Habitat for Humanity International, the Bridges of Understanding Foundation, and the International Rescue Committee (IRC). He has also served as a featured contributor to +Acumen.
Deonta is a graduate of Manhattan College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, with minors in Economics and Philosophy. When not conducting economic development research or assessing socially-oriented investments Deonta can be found wandering the streets of Boston, the city he is grateful to call home!
