Last week we launched #AdvanceEquity, a new digital dialogue series about equity, inclusion, and social impact. #AdvanceEquity is a digital build-out of of the rich and provocative conversation that was started at New Profit’s Gathering of Leaders in March (VIDEO). Throughout the series, we’ll be highlighting the stories of people and organizations that are fearlessly pushing the boundaries to break down systemic barriers to opportunity in America.
Over the last 25 years, Teach For America has evolved from an organization that had diversity, inclusion and equity as core values to an organization that values diversity, inclusion and equity as core to generating impact. Though this journey is not yet over, Teach For America’s has begun to intentionally align their values and vision for impact with greater internal inclusion. This alignment has generated critical insights about what it really takes to operationalize our intentions around diversity and inclusion.
Leaders of this journey – Elisa Villanueva Beard (CEO, Teach For America), Jeff Wetzler (Co-Founder & Partner, Transcend), Aimee Eubanks Davis (Founder, Braven), and Dana O’Donovan (Director, Monitor Institute, part of Deloitte Consulting, LLP) – joined us at the 2016 Gathering to share their story, what they’ve learned and their aspirations for what comes next.
