New Profit Announces The Well: Reflect. Renew. Refound.

New Annual Convening Will Bring Together a Unique Multiracial, Intergenerational, Cross-Sector Coalition for Change

November 11, 2022

On November 14-16 in Washington, DC, New Profit will be hosting The Well: Reflect. Renew. Refound., its first major coming together of social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and other social impact visionaries since 2020. The convening will include more than 400 leaders from across sectors and generations, including a contingent of 40 emerging leaders between the ages of 21 and 24 from around the country who will bring their unique and urgent perspectives to the dialogue and collaboration.

Coming on the heels of the U.S. midterm elections, The Well will be a platform for participants to:

  • Restore and rejuvenate with a consistent focus on wellness in the program and the experience overall;
  • Build new relationships across identity, age, and sector; and,
  • Move beyond what needs to be dismantled and help create a positive vision for what an alternative world looks like—and define what our community can do to get there.

The Co-Curators of The Well, New Profit Co-CEO Tulaine Montgomery and Managing Partner Shawn Dove, said,

“This moment in history is one of those rare moments when transformations are happening across every system that touches our lives. And history tells us that these are the times when victorious coalitions come together across lines of difference, and against what at the time seem like insurmountable odds. The Well will be a place for dialogue and mobilization with our community to pursue an American Evolution that makes good on our country's greatest possibilities. Our call to action for the social sector is to even more passionately embrace the original etymology of philanthropy - to love humankind.”

A Co-Designed Experience and Agenda

The Well has been co-designed with a group of 18 social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and other social impact leaders from across experiences, generations, sectors, and geographies in America. The co-designers met regularly over the last several months, with facilitation led by New Profit and supported by Deloitte, to shape the agenda for the convening, ensuring that it will be grounded in the experiences of leaders who have proximity to the systems most in need of equitable transformation in our country.
