We’re seeking five motivated individuals to join the New Profit team this summer as part-time interns! Are you eager to contribute to and immerse yourself in the workings of an innovative, equity-centered national venture philanthropy organization? If so, we want to hear from you!

Our internships span various departments, offering exposure to program development, external affairs, and operational management. Through these opportunities, you’ll gain valuable skills, knowledge, and networking connections to propel your career forward.

Our internships entail a commitment of 20-30 hours per week, unless otherwise stated, and provides each participant with a rewarding chance to delve into our organization’s mission. Each selected participant’s salary will be based on experience and is non-negotiable. Hourly wages start at $19.31.

America Forward (New Profit’s policy initiative)

As a Summer Intern with the America Forward team, you will gain hands-on experience and exposure to federal government policy development, policy advocacy, government relations, and entrepreneurial nonprofit organizations. 

The America Forward Summer Intern will contribute to America Forward’s strategic objectives by assisting in critical parts of America Forward’s Economic Mobility work. The Economic Mobility Policy work includes addressing and improving the needs of the workforce development system, public benefits, and education system, as outlined in the America Forward Coalition Economic Mobility Policy Platform. Our recent work includes, for example, deep engagement in the reauthorization of the nation’s central federal workforce legislation, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Additionally, you will provide assistance to various engagement activities such as America Forward’s Federal Collective Advocacy, Coalition Advocacy Capacity-Building, and External Engagement.

Communications

At New Profit, we see communications as a driver of impact. Our Communications team elevates the work of our Social Entrepreneurs and New Profit colleagues to educate and inform our stakeholders (investors, current and prospective social entrepreneurs, current and prospective staff, and the general public). 

As a  Summer Intern on the Communications team, you will assist with various aspects of digital content creation and management for New Profit’s social media platforms and communication channels. Responsibilities include drafting engaging social media posts, creating captivating graphics, and supporting promotional activities for our podcast “Say More with Tulaine Montgomery.” This role requires strong writing skills, creativity, attention to detail, and social media proficiency.

As a Summer Intern with the Portfolio team, you will gain hands-on experience in and exposure to an entrepreneurial nonprofit organization and the field of venture philanthropy.  Do you have a natural talent for data analysis? Are you interested in conducting research to find new organizations for New Profit to invest in? Portfolio (Catalyze) – Unlocked Futures

Our Catalyze Investments team seeks to engage a curious, detail-oriented, and collaborative intern to undertake projects related to investment selection for Unlocked Future. As a Summer Intern, you will work closely with the Unlocked Futures Investment Selection team and external partners to support investment selection for Unlocked Futures. Work will include analysis of the investment selection process and the broader ecosystem in partnership with the Unlocked Futures team. You should have an interest in racial equity, social entrepreneurship, criminal justice and philanthropy.

The Well

The Well is a multi-day event where social entrepreneurs, ecosystem builders, philanthropists, and other social impact leaders come together to make sense of the moment we are in and reimagine our shared future. New Profit is excited to bring back The Well this year November 11-13 in Baltimore, MD. We will create spaces and opportunities that bring communities of different identities together to work, design, repair, and build with one another. 

As a Summer Intern with The Well team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in entrepreneurial nonprofit work and venture philanthropy. You’ll join our event planning team in partnership with VIVA to assist with invitation management, participant registration, and special requests. Additionally, you’ll help coordinate our Emerging Leaders program, supporting application management and acceptance communication, with the possibility of facilitating an online cohort gathering. This role offers exposure to diverse aspects of nonprofit management and event coordination within a dynamic organization.
